Fire in the East - NJ Con

Sad to say another Fire in the East is over.  It really is the convention that I look forward to every year.  So much fun and relaxing.  That isn't to say I don't enjoy the HMGS conventions I attend (Cold Wars and Fall In) but they seem more hurried and rushed than this one.

Swordfish at Taranto & Poor Bloody Infantry – Minden Games Part 1 Originally this was going to be two different reviews but the similarities between these two “experience” games and the fact that Swordfish at Taranto is now listed as Out of Stock, led me to the decision to do one combined review.    One thing I will mention now, is that I will not be going into a lot of detail about rules and tables used in the games.   Both of these games have a lot of tables and charts that are in use as you play.   Since some of the components such as the maps and counters are available online I don’t want to do a disservice to the publisher and put something out that would result in someone not needing to actually purchase the rules.    Swordfish at Taranto Williamson turned and nodded to his navigator as he began his dive toward the harbor.   Jinking to starboard and banking towards two large warships, he flew 30 feet above the surface, pressing the attack to close range.   T

Pulp Alley- Commando Raid - Fall In, November 4, 2017

Pulp Alley - Commando Raid game at Fall In Convention 2017 I ran a game of Pulp Alley this past Saturday, 11/4/17, at Fall In, held in Lancaster, PA.  The scenario was based on The Raid scenario from Vice Alley.  We had four players, Jamie and Matt were Germans.  John and Mike were the British.  In the above photo you can see the beach area and the cliff that the attackers will have to scale if they enter from the sea.  This was a perilous climb, except for the area where the path is, by the bunker.  The bunker had a German MG deployed in it. The area to the far right, where the dice are, and in the back, the tape measure, is not playable.  Basically, depending on where the British decide to attack from, would determine the play area.  If they launch a sea attack in the landing craft, then the shore and some of the buildings top part would be the main battle area.  If they landed by parachute then the other side of the board would be the play area.  The major plot

Pulp Alley Solo Deck - Captain America vs the Blitz Force

Captain America and Bucky are tasked with guarding a top-secret Allied conference somewhere in England,  Of course, the Germans have learned of this conference and have launched an attack hoping to capture high ranking Allied officials, including Prime Minister Churchill. The Germans unleash a new, surprise weapon against the conference. "Uh, Cap, what is that?" Once she decided the conference held no further interest for our four-footer intruder, the game itself began. The game was being played as a straight out brawl.  The plot point was the control of the building and thereby those attending the conference.  I was using a Cigar Box Battle Mat for the general playing area. Cap and Bucky were developed as a Duo.  I have another version of both that I have as part of the team The Invaders.   The Blitz Force is a Mastermind league.  This league includes two Gangs.  I couldn't find anything saying you can't have more than one and I had the slots available.   For the Pul
