Sergeants Miniatures Game - What is it??

Image
Sergeants Miniatures Game (SMG) is a bit different than a lot of typical miniatures game in existence.  Sergeants is not just a set of rules, but a full system that allows you to buy a base, starter set, a few extra figures, and you can play the game.   I remember seeing at some of the conventions in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where people would walk out of the dealer hall with a new game, sit down at an empty table, open things up, and start playing the game.   SMG, and its sister game Sergeants D-Day, are manufactured by Lost Battalion Games  ( Lost Battalion Games Site ).  Both offer a similar experience of play.  SMG is available with both base sets for the American Airborne, Day of Days, and the British Airborne, Red Devils.  There are also several expansion sets available for both nationality paths.  Expansions include scenario packs, with scenario books, and new terrain maps, soldier packs, and even 3D terrain buildings, "hasty posit...

Mayhem 2024 Prep Work

Image
Almost another year has passed and this coming April 19th-21st I am bringing Sergeants Miniatures Game to New Hampshire.  I have had the opportunity to run SMG at many of the HMGS East Conventions, and NJ Con in the past, and now bringing it to a new locale.   SMG combines a terrain board, with 20mm miniature figures.  The game can even use 3D terrain, manufactured specially to work with the game system.   Sergeants is a fun World War 2 game that allows new players, as well as experienced players to have a game that is exciting and enjoyable.   It is a card driven system.   Both the GM and the players will have cards that will determine the actions taking place each turn.   Will you succeed or fail in your mission?   For Mayhem I will be running games dealing with the "lost" 4th Glider that was supposed to land near the Orne River Bridge and help with the seizing of that important location.  The glider landed mi...

Pulp Alley Superhero Cards for Mayhem Convention Game

Image
Here are some of the cards I created for the heroes that will be available.  Typically I try to use the rules to create the superpowers that the characters possess in the comics.  At times things are modified, it can be either up or down, to make things fit the source material.   I am not trying to totally rewrite the rules, or recreate every single power or ability.  If I did that, then the cards would be books.   The template is one one I created.  I have to upload that to the Pulp Alley Facebook Group.  I had an older version on there, but this one is more customized.  I am also using the standard cards for some characters too.  More to come!

Mayhem Figures

Some of the Heroclix that have been repurposed for my game.   For some figures, the player will have a choice between some options. Like which shield style for Captain America, or whether Hank Pym will be Ant Man or Giant Man.

Mayhem Convention - April 2023 - Preparations

Image
Mayhem Convention: April 21 to 23, 2023   The game I am running for Mayhem is called The One Who Possesses The Cosmic Cube .  Nothing like a short title for a game.  It is based on the Tales of Suspense story, He Who Holds The Cosmic Cube , from way back in 1966.   Things have been busy getting ready for the game.  My original intent was to run a game based on the MCU move Avengers: Infinity War.  I was going to use the ending battle in Wakanda as the basis for the game.  Until I realized that would have probably been extremely boring.  I figured fighting on the side of Thanos, really would not be too exciting, so the thought was that everyone would be playing on the same side, and fighting against the hordes of enemies.  Anyway, I eliminated that idea, and went with this.   Since my idea changed, I ended up having to get a lot of figures and had to work getting them ready.  Basically they are Heroclix figures rewor...
